The
last remaining Adelphi Arch, also known as "Jenny's Hole"
was the scene of the savage death of Jenny, a young Victorian prostitute
who was mercilessly strangled by a dissatisfied client on the filthy
bundle of rags that passed for her bed.
On occasion her last struggle can be heard. Her terrifying screams
echo around the tunnel and the sound of her feet scrabbling and
beating against the stone floor, seemingly forever, slowly die away
as life ebbs from her body.
There have been reports of a rag-covered broken body materialising
and slowly fading away as the air grows deathly quiet.
