Queen Anne was born in 1665, ascended the throne in 1702 and reigned until her death in 1714.      

       Her statue is situated close to Queen Anne’s Gate near St James’s Park. On August 1, the anniversary of her death, it is said to descend slowly and silently from the plinth and drift three times around the street before returning to its usual place.
