A
sombre black-robed figure that slowly disappeared as it neared the
high altar was seen by a sacristan, (a person in charge of the sacred
vessels and holy vestments used in religious services), at this location.
Although Westminster Cathedral
itself only dates from 1903, this spiritual shade is thought to be
that of one of the black-robed chaplains that attended the spiritual
needs of the inmates of a prisoner-of-war camp set up on this site
during the Scottish and Civil Wars of the 1600s.
The Catholic Church have always
refused to discuss or comment upon the matter of this particular phantom phenomena. |
